Initially, blogging involved a personal web log, in which a person would write about their day to day activity but it has since metamorphosed into something way bigger than a daily journal. Blogging has transcended a lot of peoples expectations in this millennial age. Dreams are becoming realities, goals are being achieved and people are making a fortune out of a side hustle/ full-time job which started as an interest. A lot of millennials have taken to blogging over the last few years seeing the prospects in this industry and the hard work is paying off gradually.

But I recently realised that a lot of people have preconceived ideas and notions about blogging and what it stands for. Relatively new bloggers and not so blown bloggers ideas/contents are being downplayed and I feel angry about this. Below I will be sharing Myths about blogging, Facts about blogging and the reasons why I am blogging;

Blogging is a child’s play.

Bloggers are trying to show off themselves so they can probably have a man who sees their pictures and try to shoot his shot.

Bloggers are fake people trying to create a particular image of themselves online.

Bloggers have terrible photo editing skills.

Bloggers are lazy people.

Bloggers aren’t people to be taken seriously that’s why some will say you are a blogger and put lol right behind it (what exactly is funny).

Bloggers spend hours trying to create content that will be read up in minutes.

Blogging is not a lazy man’s outlet to feel like he or she belongs.

Blogging is a job if taken seriously.

Blogging is as mentally tasking as any other job that requires you to think.

Anybody can be a blogger but you have to be ready to put in work.

Bloggers don’t have to go to a tertiary institution to learn about blogging, you can learn as you go.

The more a blogger writes, the more they become better at writing.

Not all bloggers are making a lot of money from their blogs, some just make a few bucks or even nothing.

Bloggers are not Journalists but Journalists can be bloggers

Blogging helps me hone my skills; Relocating and having to start life again, I found myself in an organisation where my skills are being underutilised, so blogging helps me stay on top of my game.

Blogging makes me connect with people I will ordinary not talk to because of my bashful nature.

My blog is a safe place for me. I randomly read through all the posts I have written and try to connect with my readers.

Blogging has made me become a better creative writer/content creator.

Blogging has created opportunities that I will never have imagined come my way.

Blogging gives me a reason to always rush home every Sunday afternoon/evening to create content.

I blog to share things that excite me, my latest discoveries, adventures, style, ideas and lots more.

Blogging has given me a sense of belonging.

Blogging keeps me occupied.

There you have it. I hope I have been able to address a lot of notions and preconceived idea(s) about blogging. And by the way, anybody can be a blogger so far they are ready to put work(s) into their blog to achieve their desired result.

Everyone who has ever underrate bloggers or yet to understand the essence of blogging needs to read this. It is sad that people have this ideas about what blogging essentially stands for. And I find it weird when people ask me how much i have made from it. I am sure they are expecting to hear figures and when you said, “Nothing’, they begin to see you as unserious or just playing.

Someone else said, ‘But your blog is not popular like Linda Ikeji’ and I said because I don’t write about gossip.

P.s: Your smile is so beautiful.

Yes they sure need to! Dear Debs you clapback/response is epic! I just relate blogging to this; the sky is wide enough for birds of all kinds to fly without colliding with each other. In whatever niche we choose to be in as bloggers we can do so well in it without being compared to the next blogger. And not making millions from your blog/hard work is fine now, because the same Linda Ikeji started somewhere. Cheers to many more years of churning out good content. And thank you for your kind words. Whatever I did to come across such a pleasant person like you, I don’t know. Keep doing you boo. Thanks for stopping by the blog and dropping your thoughts on the post as always, I hope you come by again.

“you are a blogger and put lol right behind it (what exactly is funny).” Like I really need them to answer the question ooo. Tbh blogging is a lot of work because aside the actual blogging you also have to promote yourself, create daily content. Also a lot of people dont get that you’re actually giving up a part of your privacy. Another thing is you have to keep teaching yourself new things and changing with trends and that my girl is another major work. Btw you’re doing great girl!!! IG feed is poppingtom!

Exactly Uzo! Kindly answer that question. Yes! that is so true dear, these days I don’t bother myself too much; I post whenever I get the chance to because I can’t come and kill myself *literarily*. And the one time I am not so obsessed and focused on having the perfect feed you are complimenting my freestyle. Thanks dear, visit for the details. And thanks for stopping by the blog and dropping your thoughts on this post, I really appreciate it and I hope you stop by again.

You garrit girl. Not to mention how inconsistent one could be at the beginning. Commitment is really key. The time, stress, a d energy put into it is all worth it, so long as it meets the aim of making imapct.

Blogging defiantly are not lazy. I started my blog in December 2015 and I was still a college student at the time. I was juggling being a student and being a blogger at the same time. How can a blogger be lazy. They are writing their post, keeping up with their followers up, and commenting on our blogs.

Blogging is a de-stressor for me. It helped me deal with the stress in college. I also blog because I love to write. I am a daily blogger.
